Smokey in the Bronx.

Afternoon, kiddies. Here’s the first word from your Island Associate Blogger.

I offer you this tidbit to consider:

While I was rewatching the first half of the pilot episode last night (introducing a virgin to that which is Lost is always entertaining), I caught a detail that I have, up until now, totally missed every time I’ve watched that pilot.

The first time Smokey appears — well, the first time we hear the sound made by the smoke monster, while all the survivors are settling down to snack on airplane food and huddle by the fire on the first night — there’s dialogue underneath that dinosaur-metal sound we’ve grown to know and love.

Notably, Rose says: I know that sound, I grew up in the Bronx.

Is this a clue!? Is Smokey from the Bronx!? What were the writers doing!

Anyway, I thought that was interesting. All you conspiracy theorists out there — get a move on.
